New Delhi, January 09, 2018: Aviation industry is on its boom. Year 2017 saw Udaipur as one of the busiest airport in the category of domestic flights. In December 2017, more than 1 lakh 15 thousand people came to Udaipur by flights.
Jodhpur, Dehradun, Vadodara, Bhopal and Vijaywada are much ahead of population as compared to Udaipur city. But these stations are far behind Udaipur when it comes to air travel. Records have shown that Udaipur moved ahead in air travel as compared to above mentioned cities in November itself. 1 lakh 8 thousand passengers took flights from Udaipur in the month of November. The numbers of passengers recorded from Baroda were a little more than 86 thousand; Dehradun also saw 86 thousand plus, Bhopal 61 thousand and Vijaywada 58 thousand plus air passengers according to udaipurtimes.
Population of Vadodara is 20 lakhs, Bhopal has 15 lakhs and Dehradun has a little more than 15 lakhs. Udaipur as compared to these cities stands at 5 lakhs only. Even with a less population as compared to these bigger cities, air passengers in Udaipur have outnumbered all these bigger airports in 2017.

According to udaipurtimes. since Udaipur has made its place on the tourist map as a favourite destination for pre-wedding photo shoots, post wedding photo-shoots, destination weddings…high profile families make use of charter flights. Air bus of Air India, Boeing aircrafts of Jet Airways and Indigo Airlines, other aircrafts of Spice Jet and even 9 seater planes of Supreme Airline fly regularly from Udaipur Airport.
As per news earlier, Udaipur will soon have international flights. Facilities are being developed for this purpose. A terminal building to seat 500 passengers is in the pipeline. Two aero-bridges also need to be made. A fog system needs to be developed in accordance with other international airports.
Having important facilities like education, art and culture and even medical line, locations for the purpose of film shooting and industrial development is attracting more and more people to Udaipur. Domestic passengers have also grown. With business meetings happening every now and then, a number of people fly from Udaipur. Other delegates also prefer Udaipur as their centre for meeting since it also gives them the opportunity to enjoy Udaipur as a tourist city.
Overall, Udaipur airport saw around 12 lakh passengers in the year 2017.
