DGCA recommends action against DIAL in wing collision incident

New Delhi, March 23, 2018: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has recommended action against Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) who runs the operation at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) declaring it guilty in case of collision wings of two aircraft in August last year.

In its report and recommendations, DGCA said, “It is clear that the allotment of Air India (Code-C) aircraft at stand 86L, adjacent to Ethiopian (Code-D) aircraft at stand 87 without ensuring the required wing tip clearances between these aircraft’s had resulted in the occurrence for which DIAL and its personnel are responsible.

DGCA has also recommended action against the personnel of DIAL involved in the incident for their lapses in allocation of aircraft stand.
