Raunheim, November 27, 2024: Lufthansa Systems announced that the newest release of Lido mPilot, its pilot navigation solution, now allows the electronic flight bag (EFB) from the iPad to be mirrored on the display units of an A350 aircraft, expanding on the existing capability for Windows EFBs. This increases situational awareness for pilots even further as they now have enhanced visual access by not always having to look at the side-mounted iPad. This way, pilots can maximize the benefits of Lido mPilot, such as the detailed aircraft position shown by the own ship symbol. The launching customer for this milestone is the Swiss Airline Edelweiss Air, starting at the beginning of 2025. Their A350 aircraft will fly exclusively with the iPad.

The pilot solution, Lido mPilot, enables airlines to increase the safety and efficiency of their pilots’ operations. This Lido all-in-one charting application for the iPad offers easy access to terminal charts, a dynamically generated Enroute Map, an Airport Moving Map, and all required operational documents. The charts are generated electronically using a worldwide geographic information database and comprehensive aeronautical source data, ensuring high accuracy. Additionally, Lido mPilot offers weather overlays and company-specific layers, allowing pilots to make more informed decisions with real-time data tailored to their flight operations.
The iPad is the most appreciated device for pilots as most airlines equip each pilot with their own iPad that they bring into the cockpit. On the iPad, pilots have their EFB, which they use for flight preparations and navigation. Almost 40% of airlines with A350 aircraft are Lido mPilot customers. They will directly benefit from this release. The next step will be fully integrating the iPad into the display units of the A350 in order to no longer have to interact with the iPad but be able to control it via the keyboard and the KCCU (keyboard and cursor control) from the aircraft. This will be part of the next mayor release from Lido mPilot.
